    Digital Tachs. @ Summit Racing!!!

I saw these digital tachs in my mag that I got from summit racing. I'm just curious if you have to hook something special up to make it work. B/c I would like to buy it but if I can't make it work then screw it. Oh and it's 2 1/16" big so it will fit right below my A/F gauge on my dual pod. I think that would be hella sweet! What do you guys think?

You wire it up to the coil. I have installed some of those summit brand gauges and they are pretty damn good for the price.

I just wire it to the ignition coil? Damn that sounds too easy to be true...

I was thinking I could buy one of these and then get a shift light and then my car will still be kind of a sleeper b/c I won't have a 5" Monster Tach with shift light showing through the windshield. What do you guys think I should do? If I get a monster tach I will need another gauge for my pod then.

well the gauge pod would throw off the whole sleeper look...but what would be cool is if you could rig the shift light inside the gauge bezel...between the RPM gauge and the speedo...they sell those small ass ones now and plus it would hide all the wiring

    here you go..

You just hook the tach up to the negative side of the coil, very easy.

Whoa that mini shift light is sweet! That's a really great idea man! $75 isn't so bad for keeping a sleek look to your car. Do you just hook the shift light to the negative side of the coil too?

Thanks a lot guys. What color do you think I should get?

Alright guys I'm convinced I want the digital tach and shift light. What colors do you think I should get? My autometer a/f gauge is red/orange/green I think with the shift light I should get yellow since there won't be any yellows in that area of vision. And for the tach should I get red or green?

Wait I was just thinking (actually my g/f was thinking for me...) And I thought it would be kinda of pointless to get a digital mini tach and the shift light. I think what I will do is get a shift light and a different gauge. I was thinking a Vacuum/Boost Gauge by Autometer. But does anyone know how you hook that up? Could I just have a hose from the gauge to one of the vacuum ports on top of the intake manifold? I kinda like this idea better b/c I really wouldn't need the digi tach if I had a shift light and I would need a Vacuum gauge so it would work out. Lemme know what you guys think about that.

just tap into the manifold...I would think that would be the easiest route...vaccum is vaccum after all...and I would get a red shift light and a blue one...just because the are just both nice colors

There's a little plastic cover by your intake temperature sensor. Just take the little thing off and you've got vacuum.

Alright I'm kinda confused now. I looked on autometer.com for some instructions on the vacuum gauge and I just got totally confused. There were three wires. I could understand 2 for + and -. But I thought a vacuum gauge would have a hose like that vacuum gauge I have to test car vacuum at school. And I don't have a clue where the intake temp sensor is at. I will do some checking but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys for all the help you have already given me.

Intake temp sensor is on the opposite side of where the intake sucks air.

Ooo... even more cool LED gauges! I know what I'm getting for the car next.

The universal LED gauge pods are a little pricey though...

Alright I think I might have this confusion figured out. Alright I was looking at an electrical vac/boost gauge and I need a mechanical gauge. This is what I got off of autometer's site.

    4384
    4484
    Vacuum 30 In. Hg.
    Includes 6 ft. tubing, 1/8" NPT, & universal T-fitting.

It's the Pro-Comp Ultra Lite gauge (matches my a/f gauge)

Our cars are old, so you will need the mechanical gauge.

Alright I ordered an Autometer Ultra-Lite Pro Comp mechanical vacuum/boost gauge. $53 and it should be here next Tuesday. I can't wait to have my pillar full. Then I will need to get some other gauges to put other places.

No I used a 88-91 CRX dual pod by Autometer. I used a heatgun to mould it better to the A-pillar. Note: use gloves I burnt my fingers on the plastic. Yeah I was just so excited to get it on so I didn't use my head.
