Yup. I got a "rebuilt" one for $600 for just the block and head on my 87LX.
It cost me $400 to have dropped in by a friend who is a mechanic.

there isnt enough time to tell you whats available for swapping. Just wait until the search feature is up again and search and read.

My Tranny was still good. The ecu on a carbed model is worthless. I reused the old intake and exaughst manifolds.

Alone with the block and head I replaced the:
    Clutch (still had original)
    Water Pump
    Intake and exaughst gaskets
    Engine Mounts

So the Whole process cost close to $1,500.

Hey, just curious, why is the ECU on a carbed model worthless? I have an 86' carbed LX myself. I plan on spending lots of time on this site, you guys are great.

Everytime I say that, some dude with a carbed 3geez flames me! I just don't see the need to have one in a Carb Car.

Yeah, i am one of those dudes who knows his car better. There is not way to retrieve ecu codes for a carbed unit. The little box contains some solenoids, that's it.
