    Exclamation How dark to tint...

I have a few q's on your opinion of some tinting issues with Kicker's car. When I buy the car, I want to tint the widnows, but I don't know how dark I wanna go. I also want to tint the front trim, But again, how dark. Also, should I make clear corners? Ans should I tint the tails ot a near balck color, or make the circular tails? I jsut want to know what you guys htink...

I'm going to do my windows hopefully soon, 18% is my goal. 20% is legal in Idaho, so i'm stretching it a little. I wouldn't clear your corners, they just fade. Just tint the corners and tails with VHT Nightshades, it looks sweet and clean.

For some reason, I always like to have the back windows limo-tinted. And because it's a black car, a limo tint isn't that bad of an idea.

Washington is "35%" and 6" on windshield. RCW 46.37.430 - minimum legal light transmission 24% including AS2 glazing.

sorta lame, but most states are.

South Carolina is pretty cool at 27%

Nightshades is pretty cool to use. Its cheap and extremely easy compared to custom making clear lenses. I think circular tails look kinda ricey. I like the look of a nice clean car with as little *bling bling* as possible.

I would stick with 20% or 30%. My TL is 15% which is really dark, and my Accord was 20%.

I will make them as dark as I can get them. Whatever is the darkest they will do it for me at the shop I guess, I have decided that darker IS BETTER!!!!!!! I was going to use night shade anyhow. It's not too cheap, but it is the same thing my sisters BF did to his civic hatch, and it loks mint, so I htink that is what I am going to use, maybe some time later on I will decide to make the tails, but I have too much to worry about right now :P.

My tint is 22%, with legal at 35%. It's plenty dark enough for me. If it was any darker I don't think I'd be able to see at night worth beans!

What's a good price for tinting to be done? $150? For my hatch.

$150 would be a steal. My first pickup was tinted by the original owner and I found the receipt and it cost $200 in 1988. It was a more simple job than a hatch too.

One word about tint. If its not 3M brand stay the hell away. Many other brands can turn to purpule haze pretty easily.

And darker is not nessisearaly better. Especially if you do much driving at night.

I am not really going for functionability, as much as I am for show quality, lol. My sister-in-law's uncle does tinting (I just found out about this like 2 days ago ) He said he'd do it for me for about 120 bucks, and he said he will go a little darker then legal in WA, which is fine by me. I don't know what the fine is, but I don't care, I don't like really light tinting lie what was on my old car :P.

The only thing that sucks about night shade is that it does not come in red, I have to use semi-transparent metal tint for the first two coats of red, then two coats of night shade spray on tint to make htem REALLY dark balck :d. The car is going to have such a cleen outer apearence . I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I paid $170, but I talked the guy down from like $220 or something. I'd expect around $200 for a good quality job.

i thnk the legal limit in Tn is 25%, but since i live in a small town, and the cops are pretty much crooked anyway, we run around all day w/ illegal tint, i got a cpl rolls of 5% for my back doors and rear windsheild, and some 15% for my front doors and the 6" strip on front windsheild

In some states tint is checked at inspection. In PA that changed about 10 years ago and now it is left to the police. Here no tint is legal on the side and front windows and 20% is legal for the rear. I went with 35% and I like it alot, it seems to me like a dark smoke. I did it myself about 9 months ago but the back window sucks alot. I used the metallic non-purpling tint. I am sure it won't last forever, but most shop tint only lasts about 3-4 years w/o purpling that I have heard of. The whole job cost me about $20. The lowest estimate to get the back window done in my area was $100. I would be sure you like the darkness of the tint before having to open the windows at night b/c i doubt you want to get it tinted lighter after gettting it tinted once.

I got it. Still having a little problem with the axle. My cousin hates me right now and my car is in his driveway and he's supposed to be fixing it. So if he grows up then maybe it'll be fixed soon. lol

% is the amount (or percent) of light allowed to pass through i.e.: if the sun shines on a peice of 35%, only 35% of the light will actually go through to be seen on the other side.....
