check engine light came on taday

Si I am putting along at the usual 70 mph and the check engine light comes on. So I pull over and check it. Yep, its still there. I turn the car back on and the light goes away. Huh must have been a fluke or somwthing right. Just incase lets go a little slower the rest of the way.

Nope didnt fix it. Takes a few minutes but it always comes back on. Whne it does go on I get suge or power from the engine so Im not sure whats up. Has anyone else had this problem? How do you do the light under the seat thing I read about DURING MY SEARCH

hmm check the ECU code under the seat they are usually exact when you look it up. Every light iv ever got the code was dead on like my EGR and Fast Idle valve both died in my spare accord and thats all i did.

And i had a problem with my other accord where it would hesitate then have a surge of power. No one could ever figure it out but i know it wasnt in the engine cause it did it for a while with the JDM A20A3 in it so i assumed it was maybe an emission control or something. I dont think it does it anymore but i never found out what it was.

With the ignition on, count the number of blinks, then check this page in the EFI Tech section:

ECU CODES for 86-89 accord and 85-89 prelude

You have to do a diagnostic to see why it's coming on. It could be 20 diff things....

    Started with a 89 Accord LXI - 96 Acura TL - 2003 Acura CL Type S..

Yeah just look under the drivers seat when the car is running and light is on and count the blinks you may have to pop the little tap off the cover to see the window. This is only for FI accords i think but if you cant find your answer PM me i have the Honda Service manual.

so the stealerships are 160 each and the boschs are 60 the ngks are 80. I guess Ill go and get 2 NGKs. So this would be the reason for the black tailpipe situation. I have one of those coffecans for a muffler and I am getting tired of cleaning it and polishing it from the soot.

There was a recent post somewhere about O2 sensors and it said the NGK's were about $35 ea if you order online. I paid $39ea for my bosch ones at a local Auto Zone (dont know if you have them). If i had the time i would have gotten the NGK's but i couldnt wait for them.
