Replace whole axle or just cv boots?

I just bought a second accord and it makes a cracking noise when I make turns going slowly. I was about to change the whole axle but is it neccessary? Or could I just replace the cv boots? Thanks

Its cheaper and easier to change the whole axle since you can pick them up new for around 50-60 bucks with a lifetime warranty

ifyou go to autoparts stores, you will find that outside CV joint will cost about $80-90.
when you can get the hole axel for $50-60.

If you want to go cheap you could wipe off the cv with a clean rag. Don't use any cleaners or degreasers. Then repack it with bearing greese and put a new boot on. The ideal thing to do would be to replace the whole axle since it is making noise.

your shaft is FUCKED... too much dirt got in, so now its worn out... you buy a boot when you catch it before its making noise.. go pickup a whole new shaft and replace it... even with new grease, teh shaft will get progressivly louder adn louder and more unsafe
