    !987 Accord Combination Switch

    Hello to all,
I need badly, my light switch hardly works at all, and turns off at the worst times, the combinations switch for an 87 hatchback, once again I'm not sure of the model/body style or years that match this switch. It's the large one on the steering wheel post that has the light, turn signal on the left stalk and the wipers on the right stalk. I checked and they are expensive (by my budget) even at majestic honda around 150 bucks new so I'm looking and hoping for one in good shape, light/turnsigmal most import must be in great shape, wipers stalk must work also. I'm guessing if there are any around the market place they get a premium so just let me know what's out there and how much, I'll keep this one open for a couple weeks for maximum exposure. Thanks alot to all who read and can help. Doug. P.S. any tips on where to find less expensive remanufactured somewhat quality part also appreciated. thanks guys, I wish I could spend more time around here but it's pay back time so I need to work alot. Doug

That sucks, try a junkyard. It should be cheap there.

if that is too expensive get a daytime running light kit from jcwhitney like 19.99. it solves the problem.... simple 4 wire hookup and that's it.

you can use one off a sedan or coupe if you don't mind going without your rear wiper. I had to do it fo a short time when I first bought my hatch since the local salvage yard only had sedan's at the time.

I never use the rear wiper, doesn't even have a blade. Next body project will include shaving the stalk driver. A bit hesitant to do junk yards, cause of the rain getting into all the components, most of the accords at my junkyard have no windshield. the running light kit sounds like a decent option, I'm gonna check local shops to see if they have one. I got out my electrical book and I'm thinking of performing surgery on the one in place with some togggle switches. Have not figured it all out yet. Thanks for all the replies, my friends. I hope your cars are treating you well, mine is, except for a few minor glitches.

don't you just hate it when you capitalize the "1"

anyways I would go with the toggle switch idea... might not be good if yer selling the car but it's a lot cheaper... plus shipping a combination switch could prove fatal. If it's not packaged and shipped carefuly.

Be wary of the junkyard combo switch...i spent $55 on one that went bad the next day. But it's $180 from the dealer

    Check your juckyards

I just pulled one Sunday fron the you pull a part in Jax, Fl and sent it out to IceBurn in Dubai, India.
The switch set up was only $10.00 & $2.00 to get in the yard. Now there was another yard that was trying to get $33 + $2 admission. but thay are out there. Even the one for the HB, Only takes 20 minutes to pull.
    Hope this helps. LOL

I thought mine went bad on my 89 LXI, but as it turned out that it was actually the High/low relay located on the top of the fuse box. I would be driving down the road and......bam.....no lights. I would flip the lever to toggle the High/low, and they would come back on for a while,.....then bam....gone again.

Let me tell you, to replace the relay took a whopping 10 min. A lot better than tring to replace the actuall light switch.

    Might be something to check!

Doug I might be heading to the yard again this weekend, I might be able to swing by the other yard that has $10 + $2, did have a couple of hatchbacks there. I can't guarantee the switch, but I'll need the money this time around I can only do so much for International Relations and besides your not out of the country.
    Hope this helps.
