My transmission is humming in 4th gear it's a loud humming sounds like a winding noise ,it only does it when the clutch is out and i'm stepping on the gas any idea what this might be?

It sounds like your 4th gear set is worn.

thats what i thought any other suggestions?
make sure you are full of tranny fluid and try a fluid change for manuals I would recomend 1 bottle of lucas tranny stuff and the rest honda MTF if auto use only honda ATF and one lucas if you wish

I use lucas in my engine tranny and fuel system
Well i didn't get a chance to use the lucas my tranny just blew a few hours ago,she's seized up pretty bad.
Was the fluid level low?

My pull-a-part charges about $90 for a manual transmission. When I called around at the 'fancy' junkyards that get your parts for you they wanted $500.
