WTB or T tan speaker housings

My Lxi coupe came with the 6x9 speaker housings in the back and I would really prefer the 6 1/2's back there. So if anyone has tan housings for 6 1/2's and wants to sell/trade them, let me know.

Im confused. The speakers housings the back are 6x9 housings. Depending on the size of the magnet of the speaker, you might have to do some cutting of the metal. But if they are not outrageous, it will work out fine. Hope this answers your question.

so your sayin that the holes are oroginally for 6x9's but the houing makes then into 6.5" holes? so you just have to cut away the excess and there ya go 6x9 holes?

Well I guess. I know mine came with the metal already cut so i just popped in the 6x9's in the stock housings and put them in no problem. I cant guarantee that yours are already like that, but when i was helping HostileJava's with his, I believe he had stock 6.5's back there, which I still dont understand why honda didnt just put 6x9 speakers back there if the grill was made for 6x9s. You might not have to cut anything.

Sorry if my info seems unreliable, its just I havent done any speaker work back there since spring of 03'.

The housings themselves hold the speakers and the holes in the shelf are the same regardless of speaker size. Honda was thus able to get away with manufacturing one shelf regardless of speaker size and just switching out housings depending on trim level.

In answer to accordlxi2.0's question... 6.5 inch speakers give truer imagery in the bass frequencies than 6x9's. Everything else being equal, a 6x9 will put out more bass, but will actually be slightly distorted because of the shape of the woofer. Since I plan on having a good subwoofer setup as a foundation for my bass frequencies, I would prefer the better imagery from the rear speakers to the slightly higher output that my 6x9s would afford.

And Dallas&SarahsAccord, I would like to help you out with a trade, but I wouldn't know a cost-effective way of changing the color of your housings from blue to tan, so I would much prefer a trade with someone who has tan housings ready to go. If I find some housings for sale, however (or in a local yard), I will put mine up for sale (or any that I may find).

i pulled off the 6.5" housings and there is no holes for 6x9's under there...just holes for the 6.5"'s.....i guess i would have to cut the metal away in order to properly mount them.

The speakers fit in the housings... the housings fit in the rear deck. Both housings fit the same cutouts in the rear deck.

    Hey Moody,

I've got a set of tan speaker housings if you're still in the market. PM me an offer and they're yours!

Ah... I just gave up on those a few days ago and bought a pair of 6x9's. Thanks, though!
