Shifting at redline and clutch slipping?

Hello all, im not sure what exactly to call it.

So driving pushing the car to it's limit for a little bit of useless fun down a straightaway, and i noticed that when i shift from 1st to 2nd at redline the RPMS seem to be rubbing while shifting. Like its at 6000RPM in 1st then when I shift, it slowly slows down to 4xxxRPM in 2nd. I noticed this before, but i didn't drive other cars to the limit before. Anyways, in my father's BMW when i shift like that, the car jolts. Same for my friend's Audi A4 i've driven. Even in my friend's 00' Integra, it would jolt when i shifted. The RPMs didn't slowly slow down. It seems to catch the second I put it in gear. In my accord it seems to be delayed in catching at redline. Anyone know if this is normal for our car. I'm guessing the pressure plate isn't as strong as the other cars i've mention but I not too knowledgable about transmissions.

well..my clutch was replaced at 70,000miles with an OEM honda clutch..and well it's not at 146,012miles. The clutch isn't hard to get into 2nd gear and the clutch doesnt seem to be slipping during normal driving. I'm stumped

hmm........ maybe its cause your driving the piss out of a 15 year old economy car that is causing it to mess up.

may be you need to adjust the clutch

try adjusting the clutch cable. It's a little white nob on the end of the clutch cable. Your clutch may not be engaging all the way. Check Haynes or Chiltons manual on how to do this. Or just read the "how to" section.

well..hodeup my clutch engages during normal driving...but when doing spirited driving the clutch is givin in. My guess is the pressure plate isn't strong enough to hold the gears.

try adjusting it then if it still dosen't work get a stronger clutch/preasuer plate. I have an ACT and I love it.

i had same problem, its called slippage, the RPM used to go up while the car going at same speed which drove me nuts SO i got me a Clutch Masters and it is awesome and the car "jolts" now ACT is good too

-{DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING AUTOZONE POS CLUTCHES }- they are rebuilt and they WILL literarly shatter to pieces.

your clutch is slipping=bad.

The reason that it grabs at normal driving is becuase there simply isn't as much stress and power going through it. When you get up to where the engine actually makes power, the clutch is going to have a much harder time holding on.

The highest performance isn't always at your redline rpm.... definitly not :-) my car.. runs great, everything works normaly, the highest performance I can get is uusaly around 4,500 rpm.. any higher and im not really pickin gup any more performance... u should find the highest rpm your car performs... and shift from there...

Our cars perform best at 5500 rpm... so shifting above this line makes sure you get in the power band when you're in the next gear.

Shidting at 4500 would make the rpm drop to 3500... not bad but not optimal

my rpm doesn't drop to 3500 when shifting from 4500... of course I didn't mention it really depends on the gear your shifting to and from. I shift pretty quick :-) and when the car is the right temp the rpms dont fall as quickly.... the clutch should at least last me till i get rid of the car... 2 years or so.

redline shifting is wack anways man, bad for your engine and isnt the best proformance at the redline either! i guess if its cold out it warms up your engine quick and sounds cool tho... too bad it many not sound at all if oyu do it too much

so does mine... Shift 1000 rpm past peak power... so if peak power is 5500 either shift at redline or 6500 (well maybe thats a bit high, but 6250 is just right).
