    Question What the f***!!!2

I have replaced my fuel filter and my car still won't go past 51-5200 rpm!!It gets there and starts popping and revving up and down appox 500 rpm's.Is it a rev limiter?I also own an 84 accord lx that rev's well into the redline no problem. Why is my car doing this! *&^^$#@@!!!!!!!!

    Thats not the rev limiter.
Are your plugs and wires in good condition? What is your timing set at?

No the only code I have right now is my EGR code.I haven't been able to fix that yet.Anyway the smog guy told me my timing was advanced 2 degrees.Could that be the problem?

Advancing 2 degrees or the EGR will not effect it that much.
I have no EGR and have advanced my timing.

How does your air filter and PCV valve look?

Basically you are having a fuel (air+gas) or a spark issue. It could also be the ignitor, coil or distributor.

actually, you would be suprised what advanced timing and bad EGR valve will do.
return the timing back to stock and replace the EGR valve.

Could also be a worn distributor. RPM can become an issue if it is worn enough. Loose or bad bearings. How many miles on the car?

196,278 not sure if it is still og distributor or not.But the guy at the dealer said it is definately rebuilt.I guess there was some sort of recall or something and the new distributor's have a little green circle on them.

Lift the carpet up in the trunk area, fold down the back seat, and pry up the galvanized cover on the drivers side of the car...you will see the pump there...one fuel line and an electrical connector (covered by a rubber boot), I think there are six nuts holding it to the tank....pull the pump out and you will see a plastic filter screen, and my bet is that the screen is plugged (causing cavitation at the pump under high fuel delivery conditions)..you might just get away with cleaning out the screen, it doesnt take long to find out !!!

if you just replaced your spark plug wires make sure you have the correct fireing order. i know it sounds stupid but we all make mistakes.
