Well I live with my girlfriend and people in my family have never bought a wedding ring for less than $6000. My brother has been married twice and he spent that much each time. My mom has a $7500 ring. And my g/f is not temporary. It's just a matter of time until we get engaged. When I'm done with school and working for a dealership or having my own shop then I will get married. Then I can afford that much for a ring. I'm not sacrificing anything since I did have the money to pay for it.
