Good motor to turbo, but the $749 does not include a tranny. I still think best bang for buck is the B16A1 swap with tranny, ecu, etc...

If you want more poop, then track down a cheap B18A short block and make an LS-VTEC.

If you want a Torquy ( joke? ) B series Hybrid B20z/vtec is the way to go. $800 for the long block, since the tranny is not needed.Originally Posted by Gregg86DX
If you install that engine, you need to install an integr intake manifold (b18b). This will give the engine some air and increase it's power. It would compare to a B18B with a little more torque.
The B20Z/JDM 99+ B20B has a higher compression ratio and would give more hp

so if i put a b20b with a b18 intake manifold, it would be a better deal than gettin a b18?

"Better deal" is hard to define. How much money do you have? After we know that, we can all build you the best (virtual) motor that you can afford.

just the motor mounts, axels and engine wirring will cost you $1.5K.
plus the engine and bolt on stuff.
yeah it will be more like $3K and up.
Alex.
That first B20B is OBD 2. You'll spend a shit load converting your car to OBD 1 and then the engine to OBD 1 just to run it. You could probably convert the car to OBD 2 but that's even more expensive. Then there's OBD 2A and OBD 2B. I think they use letters, either way there's 2 of them. The cheapest B-series swap, not counting the JDM B20 which was in the 3g in Japan, will run $3000. That doesn't include shipping on any parts either. It costs $400-500 to ship an engine. I think instead of spending $1500 on a swap, you should save up more money and then do one. It's a lot more expensive than you think and there's a ton of shit you have to worry about.

I'll surely be converting to obd-1 for my B20A swap... it's alot less expensive than many would think...

The only person I know of that converted their car to OBD 1 paid $1100 for the harness. I guess it all depends on where you live and where you go. It's still a shitload of hassle.
