When adjusting the a/f needle, what way do I turn it to add more air. I think my car is running very very rich. I am trying to lean it out. The a/f needle is in the back of the carb in a slight hole and the screw is gold right??? Thanks!

Has it been adjusted before?
If it's cold out don't expect the car to burn fuel well.
You turn it in to add more air. But that only affects idle mixture.

Well my gas mileage is ass and the engine always seems to load up with fuel. It puts out black smoke when I first crank it and then it goes white. After it heats up it quits smoking. Well I have to pass emmissions in Memphis and it failed really bad. Carbon monoxide is really high. I replaced the o2 sensor already? No offense to anyone here but I had some mexicans work on my car and they put a new carb, manifold and some more stuff. I don't know what they did?
hate to break it to you, but unless they are certified to do the work, you aint gonna pass. had that problem before, although I am mexican, they sneak a bunch of shit in there to get you to pass, but the problem is, they got the new check 2 system out everywhere and if they see al that stuff in there that isn't supposed to be there, they will get you for cheating. take it to a honda dealer for a free engine inspection(if they do, in my area they do) and have them tell you if everything is where it supposed to be. also ask them to make sure that those parts that the mexicans put in there are honda certified parts.
You paid people to do work and you don't know what they did?
Chek the float level...
The A/F screw controls mixture till about 3,000 rpm.
As for the white smoke, you could be leaking coolant into the intake maniflold from the port that sits directly under the carb... check your coolant level, though if the leak was smalll youd hardly nottice.

Well I didn't pay then money. It was my friends dad and I had this old izuzu truck at my house with no motor. My car wasn't running at all then. So I told them if they fixed my car thyen they could have the truck. They got it running. I know it isn't th float because I bought a carb rebuild kit and put another one in. I don't think it was lean. I was failing my emmissions here in Memphis. I turned the a/f needle out and the emm. went up. I turned it in and they went down enough to passing. Whats that all about.
Well I went and looked at my engine and was double checking conections and such and I saw that my o2 sensor was unplugged! Now that I had adjusted it( the a/f needle) to pass inspection without the o2, do I need to readjust ithe a/f needle. I want to get the best gas mileage possible.
Clean your plugs and then go drive around untill the car is warm... then shut the car off and after the car is cooled check out the plugs. That should give you some idea about the mixture. assuming timing and all that is good.
