I've searched but cannot find anything on bottom end rebuilds. Has anyone here actually done one? I've got 246K miles on my A20A3 and have a pretty good oil leak going. I will be pulling the engine very soon, and will be replacing the timing belt, major seals and oil-pan gasket. I want to know what I need to be concered about with my crank, bearings, pistons etc. while I have it open. Please don't offer advice unless you have actually done this! I am contemplating going with the Diamond pistons/Eagle rods/Clevite bearings combination as I plan on doing more top end modifications later. What do I need to check for as far as my crank goes? What about cylinders? Any other things I need to check on that I haven't asked about? My goal is to have a beefed up bottom end that will be capable of handling around 250, turbocharged whp. I am looking for PERFORMANCE and RELIABILITY.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Rob.
