replace the alternator and you should be set to go.

    I agree with shepherd, BUT

Get a multimeter set it for @ least 20 volts DC, start the car put the leads at the terminals Red to red and Blk to Blk. You should be reading 14+ volts while the car is running. if not then the alt is not generating enough volts to charge the battery.
You need at least 1/2 volt more than the 12 volt battery.
So you need at least 12 1/2 volts to charge a 12 volt battery.
And I believe that anything less than 13.5 coming out of the alt will cause the warning light to come on.
But this is the shadetree way of checking Alt.
    Hope this helps, LOL

yeah if you can do it i suppose! the problem with that is what if it isnt your brushes what if its your diodes? what if it is your burshes and then your diodes go out and ruin your brushes 2 months later

i just got a new alternator when it broke for about 100 usd look aroudn they gotta be cheaper than 143pounds!

make sure when you get one in there that your battery is completely charged.. i learned the hard way that if its dead you futz up your new alternator real quick (or maybe it was the intense load tests i did on it? )
