Polyurethane bushings for sway bar

Hey i was looking around at sway bars and noticed that they arent much thicker that our stock ones, but i wanted to improve my cornering. So i went down and purchased some End Link bushings from Energy Suspension. Guys, this has been one of the most cheapest and best improvements to my suspension. I am now taking corners 30+ miles faster than i used to, im only limited by the stock tires that i have. since there is hardly any body roll now, my tires are loosing traction at the higher speeds, but thats cool cause im upgrading rims and tires, anyways......... if anyone is interested on how to modify the bushings to fit our cars let me know, email or on the board.

ok....for the middle bushings use part# 9.5154 for front swaybar
for your end links use part# 9.8105

what you have to do for the end links is....really simple. it takes 4 busings per end link. on the top and bottom bushings cut these in half with a dremmel tool, and presto your done, bolt every thing back like it was, and your done...simple and effective. Ive put 300 miles on my car since doing this and no problems so far.

I'm kinda confused on what exactly you are cutting. The end-links I purchased fit with no modifications. For the 2 mount bushings, I had to modify the metal bracket by grinding one end of each mount about 3/16ths of an inch. No modifications of the actual plastic bushing were needed. Tonight I will dig the exact part numbers, but I think they were all '90-'93 Accord parts.

cut the actual bushing itself...if you know of direct fitting parts please post, im kinda limited by what i can find here (strange living in San Diego) so ive had to fabricate everything for my car.....any info is appreciated.

It took me a bit longer to find this info than I expected, but here it is:

Front frame mount bushings - Energy Suspension Part# 9.5126 (22mm 94-97 Accord)

Front end link bushings - Energy Suspension Part# 16.8105 (90-97 Accord)

Summit Part numbers -
ENS-9-5126G - $15.69
ENS-16-8105G - $16.39

These are for an 88-89 LXi/SEi front sway bar. Other models are smaller and the frame mount bushings won't fit. The end links fit with no modifications and the frame mounts needed to have the metal bracket ground down slightly on one end. It's very obvious where they need to be ground when you try to install them. Overall it's an easy modification.

I know this thread is old but I thought I'd add some insight that might help. I ordered the same bushing listed above. The end link bushings do not include a new bolt and the stock bolt is a little short. I ended up sanding/grinding a little bit of the bushing off to get it to fit.

also does the 88-89 lxi sway bar same as 86? i know 86lxi has a rear sway bar, but i wonder if its the same front and rear setup as the 88-89?

i had the same question. whats the diff between the suspen and brakes on a 86-87 LXi compared to a 88-89 LXi?

the 86/87 LX-i front sway bar is 20.5mm the 88/89 is 22.5mm

the rears are listed at 12mm for the 86/87 and 13mm for the 88/89

yes the front discs are different as well, the 88/89 LX-i's and 89 SE-i had a bigger rotor and different caliper. Thats why I have a set of f89 lx-i front knuckles for sale in the marketplace

yeah I have mine on,I got them from oreilys but never paid attetion to the part# but they are a very tight fit,havent noticed that much of a differance though

Hmmm.... I just realized that I got the front sway bar bushings from Site, and the endlinks are also for the front (en. susp. 16.8105G for 94-96 accord)... cause they don't fit the back:





So, I guess I'm gonna have to find me an lxi front sway bar since I already got the rubber...

The rear end link bushings are available as a NAPA OE part. They are 3 bucks for 2 bushings or something like that. Four bushings are required.

They help a little when replacing old bushings. But only a little though because the rear end links dont wear out that much given their design. This is not the case for front end links. So when deciding which to do first, the fronts are the obvious choice.
