it does work it was a bit fo a fit then cut idea but it worked. I later modded it up so I could use my K&N filter that came with my SR (diss pipe size) but you are able to di it all with the 90-93 teg one. 2.5 inch piping is the easiest it goes into the fender the best without any problems
Anything above 2.5 inches is overkill.
Thinking about getting a new 3g...
I have 2.75 but it is because the guy told me it was 2.5
Will the battery need to be moved over alittle bit? Does the filter fit good inside the fender and will i have to take off the front bumper?
Just take off the front bumper, it will only take you 5 minutes.
Im not sure. But here is a link to how you can make ur own. http://www.87accordlxi.com/coldair/coldair.htm

Yea I already have printed out those pages. I am just curious where to cut the pipe at. I don't want to screw it up and then have to wait for another pipe to come in.
Im not sure. Kicker1_solo made mine, well it was orginally his and I just bought it off of him. Im sorry I dont know much about them.

hey, ummm how can i make my own cai on a carbed a1?
Any long cold air intake will fit, you just need to work it out on paper or whatever before you do the cuts... some will use more cuts and pipe connections then others but other then that they all fit.
88accordhb,
Carbed air intakes are here

also in the carb tech section is a how-to for the carb intake adapter, it's up to you if you decide to make it cold air or not.

Just to clarify, this will bolt straight up to an 89 Accord with an A20A4 engine without the need for modification?
pntbl, there is no need for double posts.. I merged the two intake threads together

Ok well I also have a question about the CAI system... I have heard stories where u should get a bypass valve so that incase of running through a puddle by mistake and the CAI sucks up water to the engine, won't it cause it to seize? Or are they well protected from any water being sucked up? If someone can explain this to me that would be great... I want to make a CAI. Right now I have a short ram intake system but I would prefer to have CAI instead. Thanks guy's Lataz. ;-)
I will alwayz drive my 3rd gen Accord, ya'll will neva c me driving a 4 door Ford.. lol
W/o a bypass valve ur cai will act like a big straw and suck it up. NOT GOOD. I still dont have one on my cai but I am really careful when its wet outside and dont drive through any puddles.

is fabricating your own intake legal....i mean what happens when its time to smog?
If you live in California or other states with emissions inspections, only intakes certified by the smog board can be considered to be smog legal. If you make your own custom intake, it will not be certified, and therefore will not be smog legal. Also, if you buy an intake that is certified, but it's for another model of car, it may still not be legal in your car. If they check the number on the certificate and it comes up for a model of car other than it's in, you will fail smog. The safest thing to do in states with emissions inspections is to swap the stock intake back in. It's less hassle in the long run. I know this to be true for California, but I'm not sure how much of it pertains to other states.
i'm lucky enough to not have to worry about SMOG or any other emissions laws. We dont even have smog checks were i live.![]()

we have to get emissions checks here but they have never checked under my hood all they do is but a tube on your muffler then rev the shit out of it and say ok your done. anyways i made my own cai for my 89 teg and it passed emissions and that same cai i had in the teg i ghetto riged perfectly into the accord with a little help w/ duck tape. i made it with 2.5in U bend exaust pipe and and filter. dont worry about makeing the cuts perfect as long as its close it will work.
