rubbers for se-i

Hey folks,

What types of all-season rubbers do you know that for sure carry the 195-60 R14 characteristic? I am looking to buy a set for my car and would like to consult on all your knowledge. I cant say that i can buy an awesome set maxing the price out but any or all ideas will be much appreciated. Plus, I will likely buy a cheaper to an average set/brand/type of 195-60s but would like to get familiar with all the options. Thanks

Dunlop Sport A2s are pretty good. They've been great wet and dry. It you drive rthem hard they'll wear out well before the 50k warranty. That seemed to be the only complaint on tirerack before I bought them. Mine are just about gone after 20k, but I haven't tried going through the warranty process yet. Autocross isn't very easy on tires though.

thanks shep! keep with the recommendations, even with the other rubbers my fave is trojan ribbed - but i will look into the potenza's as well!

i'm with alex on the potenza's.
i have those on my rims and i find them to be quiet and they grip the road really well for all season tires. of kose, u could always go for the S-03's... hahaha z-rated potenza's.

i was thinking of the kumho's second from the bottom, for both budget and somewhat good quality for budget purposes...thoughts? i think the potenza'a may be out of my budget already before even researching on them...lol

are u looking for z-rated or all seasons?
cuz the re92/re93's are pretty cheap and they're good from what i've seen. they're all season though.
for z-rated, i'd take toyo fz4's or pirelli p7000? kumho's are pretty good first.
but if u had money to spend, then go potenza or the yokohama avs

thanks defiant, i dont know what z or h, etc. rated means though. however, i will be just searching for all-seasons. and if you recommend the re92/93's for all season at the 190/65 size, i will surely look into that as well. so far, the all season kumhos and bidgestone re92 or 93...any others?

Roughly Potenzas should be under 100 each.

well, z rating gives u more grip on dry roads at very high speeds compared to the lower ratings like w,v,y,h, etc...
but the downside is that some or most of them lose traction once snow or water hits the road. like, have u seen an S2000 try to drive uphill in winter? it's hilarious cuz the tires have absolutely no grip. they come with z-rated tires thats why.
now i know the re92's are h rated all seasons. and personal preference, i love em next to z rated tires since i've had good experiance with them. i got them used with my rims at 70% tread, and they grip better than any of the other all season tires i've used. i'm running motomaster for winter on my civic and it's got 85% tread on it, and it really blows compared to the potenza's.
just for interest, i was told by a tire shop technician that the toyo fz4's are z-rated all season tires.
oh, by the way, i think it sounds like i'm pushing u to go with potenza's, but i'm not trying to. i'm just really impressed with their performance thus far.
and i've seen them go for around 75-80 bucks per tire.
and i doubt there's any z-rated tires with 195/60r14.
could try yokohama Avid H4's or the Avid T4's.

hey hkplayer,

go into your nearest Kal Tire and get a set of Falken ZE512s. i run them on my car, the H rated tire has a 100,000 kms warranty, you dont need a Z rated tire if all you have is 14s. i have 205/50R16 Falkens on my car and they are Z rated with a 50,000 km warranty and they are excellent in the rain, above average in snow(reminder i am in BC where we dont get lots of snow!) Consumer Reports magazine just recently rated them the #1 Performance All Season tire beating out the likes of Bridgestone, Michelin and Yokohama! and best of all they dont cost as much as the big 3 but they do perform!

now i'm interested if they perform better than the potenza's.
i want them on my steel rims instead of the crappy motomaster.

thats why l love this board, thanks for all your suggestions. in terms of price range, i would like to stay under 45 a tire, hopefully either the kumhos, re92/93, or falken ze512 will do the job. since z rated are summer sport tires, i am thinking that h-rated must mean all season. the winters i have on are two nordic ices on the front and two korean brand ice-tires on the back (starts with an a?). and i will likely just keep my siz at 14 inches so z-rated is definitely not an option for me. any idea how much those falkens would be?

after looking up the potenza re92/93s, they are too rich for my blood at the moment so its the kumhos and falkens thus far for consideration
