    5-speed swap/black box

I am getting ready to do a 5-speed conversion on my 89lxi and I was wondering if I can use my existing black box or if I need to use one from a manual. The only difference I can see between the two is the A/T idle control solenoid (not found in 5-speed box). I will probably be replacing the ECU with one from an 88lxi 5-speed, so would that solenoid just be ignored? Or would it then wind up being left switched in the wrong position? Hmm.
What does the A/T idle control do anyway?

when i did my 5 speed, i drove with AT box for a while and i didn't like the way it was acting. i chnaged the box and everything is running better now.
just get 5 speed box and 5 speed ECU make sure they are from 88-89 accord for your car.

Never thought about that, My car has been running fine since the swap, but I'm going to go the salvage yard and yank one out and put it in my car now. :cool2:

I looked into the black box stuff a little when my EGR was acting up. The only difference is that the automatic has an extra solenoid. I'd try the auto box first unless you can get the 5-speed one for next to nothing.
