FS: Factory CD player and EQ....

Factory CD player with Equalizer. Also included is full mounting brackets and trim. Goes in place of the tape or cupholder portion of the shifter console. Does not include a shifter console. If you want a shfiter console I can try to find one in your color. CD player and EQ are in excellent condition and work great. Removed from my uncles 89 LXI coupe 3 months ago after the car was totaled. CD player was rebuilt with a new spindle motor in 1999.

    asking $65 shipped

last time i heard it it sounded like any other cd player, the speakers in his car were crap so im sure it will sound better. wiring is there, it just needs a new 8 pin plug spliced onto the cable. eq connets to the cd player via another standard 8 pin plug. eq could also be used with stock tape deck or newer honda/acura cd player.

i dont know if it plays burned cd's or not. im gonna guess and say no since there was no such technology in 1989 haha

Ummm, most likely answer is.... no. Burned audio compact discs didn't really become popular for another 10 years after that thing was built. SO I doubt it

I had one of those in my old 88 LXi sedan a few years back... it sounded pretty damn good once I upgraded the speakers. I had the player reconditioned once myself and found out that it was actually made for Honda by Alpine, so you know the quality is there... old school Alpine kicked a$$. It plugs right into the back of the stock LXi cassette deck, so there is no need for modifications as long as you already have that deck, too.

some older CD players will play burned CD's. It depends on the quality of the CD-R disc. Most older players will play CD-R's but not CD-RW's. CD-RW's have a much weaker 'signal' that the older players can't pickup sometimes.

the reason older cd players have trouble reading CD-R's is becuase of a weak tracking laser. It is all based on hue Reflection off of the Compact disc's surface. So if the laser is not intense enough to bounce data off the Disc it wont reflect and therfore not play =D
