My HID Kit in Progress

Its still in the early phase and is just a mock up but i wanted to see what it would look like so i assembled it as best i could to how it will be when i figure out what to make the rear housing out of. These are real HID's from an Audi A6 made by Hella with the A6 projectors/ballasts/bulbs. So far its going well and all i need is a stupid trim ring for my other light and to make a new rear housing for the old H4 setup and i will be done.




I didnt get a picture but they have a real nice sharp cutoff line and project a far beam. I cant wait to finish them but as usually i have 10 different projects going and i need that dumb trim ring to finish which is hard to get. But i will update you guys when im done. But anyone that has driven a car with real HID's knows why they are so desirable. But these parts dont come cheap and its not a simple install because you have to heavily modify the H4 housings. But in the end it will be worth it plus for me i got the parts for free when i worked at Audi.

I dunno, but HID's are incredible. Everytime I drive my dads TL, I am still amazed at how well they light up the road... And then I get in my car

nice man. as for the inside of the housing, did you think about painting it black. dont know how that would look. really dont know exactly what you'll do besides the one projector. guess you are deciding how to work that out. good work.

The trim ring is against the glass in the mock up and it will be similar in the finished product as well due to dept issues. I originally was going to do bi-xenons but there is no way they will fit. But since this car is not going to be daily driven i dont mind having a single xenon light setup. I have to much going on and not enough money this past year i have dumped way to much into the accord but this was in effort to finish my car up before i graduate college and will probably have to calm my crazy spending. But so far this project has been cheap and have only bought the H4 housings for $50 and one ballast for $71 to replace the defective one i got from Audi. I just need some time to finish them and another trim ring and a can of the chrome finish spray paint to repaint the finished housings after.

Ever seen the way Paul did his? he used one of those kits like on ebay, and made an adaptor ring to fit the bulb.

The problem with that is it dont have a block of plate and will blind people unless you aim them really low. Oldschoolswap did the same thing but i got the Audi projectors for free and they are highly demanded for retrofits. These projectors are supposed to be some of the best which are used in Audi, Mercedes, and BMW and have the best beam pattern and sharp cutoff lines. The only major issue i have had is extending the housing about 3/4 of an inch. At this point i thing im going to mold plexiglass for a whole new back housing and only use the glass from the original H4 housing.

A setup like im doing will run around $500 if you find a kit like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2465249637 plus the H4 housings. But in the end you will have a nice setup if you put the time into making a nice housing.
