    Bone Yard Ripping Me Off?

So, my local wrecker wants $200 CDN ( about $170 USD ) for a trunk lid with all the lenses / reflectors.

I think that's a little steep, just want to know what you would expect to pay.

Yeah, I'm already shopping around. Mine's all busted and rusty, and I can't get one from someone in town because they're all rusty too.

I already PM'd someone in marketplace. They are in Edmonton too and parting out. What I really need is to buy another SE-i, but one in a 5-spd with no rust.

I'f it isn't too much trouble, could you see how much a 5-spd trans. would be there. I will do the swap if I can't find another car, but my junk yard is brutal and I don't like them.

Don't worry about the ecu and all that, I would just like a price to compare with. Maybe I'll come to Edmonton, pickup all the parts and put them on at a friend's house. We could even have a little meet to celebrate my trans. swap.

Well, I'm glad I asked. I've had a feeling that the junk-yard was feeding me the shaft. I suppose that most people here just accept it because there is only one import yard in town, and all the 3Gs are there.

That price did sound a bit steep. I went to the junker's last summer to get my rear passenger door and I only paid $50 CDN. I know it's not a trunk lid but you get the idea.

its not about making him look bad, more like making that yard look bad, i mean i'ev bought complete running engines from yards for $75 - $100 the tranny in my old sedan was out of a junk yard and i paid $65 maybe its rare part i dont know but it just doesnt seem right

it really depends on what yard to go to and what area you're in. Around where I live 170$ is a little high for a deck lid for that year car, but not by too much, it'd probably go for 100-150$. 75$-100$ for engines is crazy, I don't see how the yard would be making much profit if they are selling for that price. Anyways, check out http://www.rstroud.com that's the yard i work for in Youngsville, NC! stop by if you're in the area! :-P.
