Wanted: A car

i'm still in search of a car, but this time i have a budget... see sig for details...

i will take other cars, though... here they are:

toyota corolla on the AE86 chassis
any year probe/mx6 with a manual transmission (autos in them are shitty)
a 1993+ 626 with manual transmission (same as above)
a newer mitsubishi mirage
any newer subaru
a nissan on the S13 chassis (i forget it's USDM designation)
a mazda RX7

any car should be in running condition and not be in need of any major repairs up front... i'm not too worried about looks as long as it's not been wrecked (and not repaired)... the car has to be cheap... right now i have about $700, but my funding increases with time (rapidly, too)... car needs to be within about 50 miles of palatka, FL, or 75 of st augustine, FL

so, hit me with what you've got...

If you are looking for a Suburu go for a 2.5 RS. Its basically the non turbo WRX with less agressive styling. I drove one and it was decently peppy, and AWD rules.

Dude no offense but you are askin ALOT of a car for 700 bucks. If it didn't need any major repairs and hadn't been wrecked. I'm tellin ya theres 3rd gens everywhere if you'd look. For 700 bucks you can't be REALLY picky trying to find something 50 miles from the middle of no where. Any accord I've found on the trader, and I look almost daily is going to run you atleast 1200 bucks. I found one for 1100 but its in GA so its out of your 50 mile radius

well, it's fine if it's been wrecked, but i don't want something that is dangerous to drive and should be in a scrap heap... and 75 miles from st augustine isn't in the middle of nowhere... there's orlando, daytona, jacksonville, ocala, gainesville, and the cape tossed in there... when i say major repairs, i mean neeing a transmission or an engine... as long as it's drivable now, i'm fine with it... and around ehre, i can pick up 3geez for about $800ish, but they typically have over 200,000 miles on them (but usually nice in every other aspect)... my problem now seems to be that the parents aren't willing to travel an hour to go buy a car... we found an RX-7 that needs paint and new seatcovers, with a fresh rebuild for $1000 in orlando... problem? orlando...

for the cars i said "newer" to, i mean within a few generations... the AE86 is an OLD chassis, and so is the S13... probe/mx6s were pulled out of production, with 1997 the last year... also getting old... the 626 holds its value as well as a collander holds water... these cars all can be had on the cheaper side... $700 is just what i have in hand this second, not the amount i have to work with period...

you might be able to use that $700 for a down payment on those cars, but you wont pay in full for em. I've got a 3g you can have for $700 but i'm WAY away from you so that wont do either of us any good.

financing isn't an option... i refuse to pay interest on a car that can (and should) be bought with cash... see, dustin imports has the right idea here... my problem is i don't really have any connections to get cars like that... that's why i've posted this

from what I've seen in the area lately, and I'm not too far from you, is that its kinda dry right now. Another BIG thing is that you are looking for a car at THE worse time of the year, tax time. Everyone has money to spend so people jack their prices up a few hundred bucks on cars. When you'r only lookin at spending 700 bucks a few hundred increase is a HUGE jump. I bet it you save for another 2 mths prices will level out again and the cars will be everywhere like they always are

i never thought of that... right now, i've been thinking about taking a little trip down to the public auto auction... it's held monthly (i think), and i may be able to get something there... in another month, i'll have around $1200 to work with...

eh, i've tried that... they are all garbage AND overpriced... or they are like newer and way out of my price range...

mom saw an ad for $1800 off a new nissan quest... if she gets that and trades off her mazda (transmission is turning bad), she can skip a month's car payment and get that RX-7 for me
