    aftermarket seat compatibility

question for those who have experience installing them or who have them in a 3g currently, if i buy aftermarket seats, the universal brackets should be able to be used with any seat i purchase? are their any particular things i should take into account? thx

then why post anything in his thread???????

Some aftermarket seat companies and distibutors offer custom brackets at an additonal cost. Some of them are Sparco (caution slow loading PDF) Corbeau, and MantaRay Motorsports Racing.
Corbeau's run about 80 bucks each for the driver and passenger sides so I figure 160 is about what it will cost you to mount them right no matter who you go through

You already know the answer to that question, to be a giant post whore.

And yes you can get brackets for the aftermarket seats that are application specific so that you won't have any problems installing them. Did you have any particulare brands or models in mind?

You'd still have to buy the brackets seperately but they would be vehicle specificx rather than universal ones. It will cost a bit more but to me its worth it. Seats are one thing you don't want ghetto engineered. Ever seen a seat track come loose in an accident? Not a pretty sight. I'm sure there may be others out there that make vehicle specific brackets but these are the ones I know of simply because I plan on putting Sparco or more than likely corbeaus in my hatch here soon.

My 94 Prelude Seats hurt my back. Racing seats are always a good addition no matter how fast the car is. I was planning on getting a set of AXE racing seats for my lude.

You can put 3rd gen lude seats in.
You can put Mazda 626 seats in.

But I think if you go with a nice racing or touring seat you will be much happier. I doubt that anyone will make specific brackets for our 3geez but my friend had a shop make custom steel square tube braces so he could mount the universal brackets on.

I actually wanted to rid myself of the sliding function of the seats... and maybe even change the height... lower / higher... I saw some ugly cheap seats on summit... I migth get one. I have no trouble drilling and welding up brackets.

Sparco makes brackets for our cars and I think momo does too... I used custom brackets for my seats and the work perfectly...
