You tighten the bolts. That's the only way to make it tighter.

Are you sure it's the valve cover loose? Sometimes it's the gasket that's messed up that's why it lets out oil.

The hardest part is keeping the gasket in the groove on the valve cover while you put it on. That part is a bitch but the rest is easy.

Make sure the surface of the head it mates to is clean and free of any old gasket material. I usually use laquer thinner to clean the surface before I put the new gasket and valve cover back on.
Mine came all in one bag... the stud and valve cover gaskets and washers...
I added a few extra small washers to the nuts so I could screw them down without them getting caught up on the top of the stud.

I changed mine, very easy and im definatly no mechanic. highly recommend getting a torque wrench!!!!!! i didn't when i first changed it then realized i was loosing more oil then the old cracked gasket. So i had to buy a torque wrench. I bought my gasket at napa in quebec, canada. cost me $28 tax included and that included the gasket and the 3 gromets.
If after you remove the 3 crown nuts on top of valve cover and it doesn't come off easily you can remove the top timing belt cover. It's only 2 bolts and is on the right side of the valve cover as you are looking at it (side where the fan belts are). It's not always necessary to remove this cover but sometimes it makes it a bit easier to remove valve cover. Use new grommets under the crown nuts and torque to 7 ft. lbs.
Also don't forget to put the ground wire back on. It's actually a quick and easy job.
Its a 3 minute job.
The trick to keeping the gasket in the groove of the cover is to use a small beed of silocone.
That way it installs easily and you can still remove it later.

I changed my valve cover gasket last summer. The gasket and the grommets cost me about $28. The only trouble I had was getting my valve cover off. If you have any trouble, just give it a few light taps with a rubber malet and it should come lose.
