    distibutor?

alright, my friends has an 86lx, and when we drive the car, it will just die. sometimes the rpms will still be up, and the car will be running, still with power steering and brakes, but when u hit the throttle, nothing happens. and at other times the car the car will just die and nothing will work but elecrical stuff. after either one of these times i can stop the car and i can start it back up. my only guess would be the distibutor. if this is it, my car will be jacked up for awhile, so does anyone know if a distributor from an 88 lx-i will work in an 86 lx? anyone know what the prob could be?

yes LX-i distributors work with the LX DX... well you might be able to open up the distributor and check the stator relector gap, and also check for red dust or metal shavings inside the distributor.

also check your plugs and wires.

and check the green and blue wires that go inside the distributor... make sure they are connected good and are not corroding... the ignitor itself can sometimes go bad too.
