yeah, you can rebuild them... doing that will only cost me about $25 as opposed to $60, and i'm STRAPPED for cash, so i'd like to opt for the cheaper route if possible
i'll i'd need is the boot kit and grease... any parts store bigger than a hollowed out pea will have them in stock
that's along the lines of what i'm thinkin... i just don't think they will last long enough to do it, and csince i've not spent any money on it yet, i'm not out anything except my time cleaning the part up
oh, by the way, it does look a tad worse than that in real life... my cam is out of adjustment and took that pic a bit dark
well the boots are only like 6 bucks apiece so you really wouldn't put you in the hole or anything. you could spend about 15 or so and just regrease and reboot (ha-ha). all your doing is buying a little more time. just the factor of getting stranded.
well, what i have on now is poppin, so i figure it'll last a few months, and by then i'll have some money and i'll replace the one with a reman... i still have another one i can check on my old car, it may be good, but i hate to have to drag the air tools across the yard...
well, if i have access, why not, hehe
looking at the pits in that joint, it's time to replace it (axle).......
Vanilla, all i can say is that just go to the junkyard and pull just that part out with the rollers. I am sure the rollers are busted out too. You gonna use the Moly Grease or just a High temp Synthetic Grease? IN either case, dont forget to pack it right. I might have to get myself a new boot too. Dont really wanna change the whole axle cause its in good shape.
