    Kenwood?

i bought a Kenwood 700 Watt 12" today from a friend for $40...whats is yalls experience with Kenwood? I have heard all good things but let me know. Also how many watt amp should be run? I was thinking about getting the Sony Xplode 500 watt amp. My friends dad is one of the head guys for our nearest walmart store so i can get like 60% off and its a $100 amp. Let me know. Thanks

All my system in the car including HU, speakers, 2 12 subs, amp, EQ are Kenwood, and I haven't had any problems with any of that...and I think that you should stay a little away from Sony, because it is not a good quality system, Walmart sells Pioners stuff too, so I would prefer that...also, that Kenwood sub, KFC-w3005 is only 175w RMS power, so you need something like 100Wx2 RMS at 4 Ohm power amp and then bridge it, make sure that amp you are buying is bridgeable, or you can go with 200Wx2 RMS at 4 Ohm power amp and just hook it up as usually, and then you don't need to bridge it.

There is nothing wrong with Sony. It's every bit as good as Kenwood. Pioneer is also a really good choice.

I tend more to lean toward Clarion but I've never had any problems with ANY of the Kenwood products I have owned

Kenwood is decent, but remember don't cheap out on the amp, it can make all the difference.

well ive had quite a few kenwood things... I had a headunit... was pretty good, better than jvc but i still prefer my pioneer/alpines. A friend had the kenwood tornado subs and i wasnt impressed but theyre pretty hard to blow up for some reason. High end clarion is pretty good stuff, but theyre cheaper models suck ass.
