not like a boat in water, but if i had to choose between boat and stiff, id pick like bein on a boat, but its a little bit of a stiffer ride since i put on the rims, but i heard thats normal right?? cuz they are thinner tires also, i dont know what the "offset" is how can i find that out???

it's the tires. running 50's on a 16 rim will do that and rub a lot. believe me....been there.

Jim's right. It's most likely your offset. No matter if you have the right tire size, or if you're on stock height, or lowered. And no matter if you have bran-new struts or bad, blown struts. If the offset is too low, then no different tire size on those wheels will keep it from rubbing.

Question, How much of the tire rubs? Where on the tire is it rubbing?

If it's just the sidewall of the tire getting a little rash, then rolling the fender lips could solve the problem. If the rub is more on the tread, then I would suggest a different set of wheels.

i had 205/50R16 tires on 16X7.5 wheels with a +42 offset and it never rubbed even with a 1" drop. i just put on 215/45R17 tires on 17X7" wheels with a +40 offset and it only rubs when i go fast on a part of the road near my house where the road dips down then comes right back up.

I'll bet he has a offset in the mid to hi 30's (35mm to 38mm). One catch to fender clearence is this. The taller you go then oem with your tires, the closer your tire goes to any rub points. Since his tire's are taller then oem, the does not help matters. But from the sound of it, the offset is wrong too. To hopefully solve the problem, try rolling the rear fender lips.
