    Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio

I'm trying to remove an after market stereo put in by the previous owners...so it's not mounted the same way. I removed the chime box and unscrewed what appeared to keep the radio in place. It wiggles, but it won't come out.

Go to your local car electronics store and get the "keys" to pull out the deck. You stick one on each side to "unlock" the deck from the car-specific mount/sleeve.

    oh. Thats simple.
Also, the chime box is under the radio, it makes the sound for the key and seatbelt alarms.

the chime box is located below the steering wheel in the panel, the one under the radio controls something else

It controls your corner lights and a random bunch of other stuff. It will stop the godawful beeping if you unplug it though.

Why would anyone need instructions to remove the stock radio? Now changing from SEI deck to after market is another story!

There's two 'chimes.' One is an actual bell underneath the steering wheel, the other is the beeping that comes on when you put the key in "on." It sounds like the beeping comes from that box, though.
