I have a 87 lxi sedan. I was going down the road and the rpm's started dropping quickly. I could get it home by slamming the gas and it would be alright until it gets lower than 40mph. The worst part was at a stop light when i take off it barely goes. anyone heard of anything like this?

So what happens when you do get lower than 40 mph? You might want to start by checking your car computer (under the drivers seat...pull the plastic tab down and check for a red blinking light).
Also might be your fuel filter...maybe even your air filter....bad injector too.
Sounds like a fuel filter or fuel pump.
