B20 reliablitlity?

Exactly what the title says. How reliable are they compared to the A20? Thanks.

Its just like any other Honda engine its how well you take care of it. The only major difference is the block is aluminum as of the cast iron A20A.

Are the A series the only cast iron Honda engines.

as far as i know, cast iron is stronger and it wears out longer.
i have seen A20 engines with 350k+ miles and they still run.
i haven't seen B series with this much miles yet. if you know one please show it to me. i would love to see it.

I agree cast iron is much stronger and i know of numerous accords with 250k+ miles. Fortunatly the B20A is closed deck so its better than the newer B-series in that aspect.

i'm not sure but, since i've put in a B20 its heavier than the A20? I know the crank is! and the A20 had a hondamatic aren't those heavier than the 5sp? Its now got the 5sp.
Axles must be heavier too and the extra cam and gear?
Might be alu but it carries more weight inside

I dont think that the B20A is heavier than the A20A at all. For one the A20A block is a bit heviers than the B20A block. If i had to guess i would say they are probably pretty close to each other with the A20A being slightly heavier. You will pick up some extra weight in the B20A head, intermediate shaft and maybe the tranny. But i have a bare A20A block that weighs almost as much as a complete B20A block.

Define "good". As a boat anchor, the A20 is very "good", much better than the B20A.

what about other engines like d-series, f,h-series, what are they made of?

The B20A is still good and is better than the newer b-series for strength because its closed deck. Its not really that big of a concern unless you want to build a race car and have it take extreme amounts of abuse. Even in that aspect the newer b-series just get re-sleeved and seem to be great so this is not an issue at all.
