1.8 ET transmission fit A20A block, yes or no?

With the flywheel and clutch from the ET on the A20A, will it fit? I've got the driveshafts. The ET engine used to sit in my Accord but it blew a rod. But I have an A20A block lying without tranny that I was wondering if I could mix with the ET tranny. I know there's is another thread going about something similar but It doesnt seem to come up with the answer I want.

Yes, it all bolts right on. The usualy hang up with the ET (in usa prelude) trans is the axles. Since this is the original trans that came with the car you should have no problems. Make sure to use the clutch and flywheel for the ET.

I've heard about many prelude guys running an et head on an a20 block. I was under the impression that it just bolted on but you needed to do some machine work to the cc to match the a20 bore. I think one or 2 of them is on here, if not you can try here http://www.clemson.edu/cscc/bb/viewf...d44022c6a86d0b

If you're putting an ET tranny in a 2.0 be advised that the 1.8 axles dont fit the 2.0 hubs and the 2.0 axles don't fit the 1.8 trans. There is another thread about that floating around.

Okay I did some reading, and the heads they use are the ET2 heads similar to the A18A head which we already know fits the A20. ET1 heads has a smaller oil channel on the back side which also makes one of the head bolts position different (which I also found out about when comparing A20 block with ET1 headgasket) but other than that they are the same but still not interchangable.

Here you can see the differences between A20A block and ET1 head. (ET1 headgasket on top of A20A block)
