older prelude's had the A20A but the USDM B20A3,5 preludes will not fit with out a mounting kit. The prelude B20A leans back while the JDM B20A accord leans forward both motors are DOHC and they both have the same bore & stroke but after that they are not the same.

Technicaly the B20A also came in a prelude.

The gen2 preludes had the same B20A as we do.

Thanx for the responses - I new it wouldn't work only because I keep reading that it won't on this site, but this moron was trying to convince me that 87 lude would work- ONLY because he sold the motor he was supposed to be holding for me

Anyways found an engine at about 5pm on fri, picked it up for $680 after taxes for the engine with alt, dist, manifold, fuel pump and cpu with 4 month warranty so I figure it was a pretty good deal. It has 169,000km on it but the engine looks mint and the timing belt was just done 30,000km ago. I got it all in, tommorow I finish a couple little things and then start her up !

One draw back I have to find a down pipe, new there $400 - that is Fu**in crazy. anyone know if exhuast shops can custom make one. It is the 4-2-1 so I don't know if they could custom make the 2 into 1 part !
Thanx for the help yall !

I don't now why I keep reading that a B20A out of a prelude won't swap in. Im driving a B20A out of a prelude and so is my mate with the same swap (we bought our cars of the same guy.) Im not to sure on the details of the swap as it was already in when I bought the car, but due to the fact I bought it cheaper than a standard 3rd gen Accord auto im sure it wasn't to hard. I know it's not out of an Accord 'cause when I wen't to replace a worn CV joint, the mechanic said he couldnt find one from an accord to fit (??.) As for performance I would recomend it, I've even managed to beat a Prelude with exhaust, headers, intake and a nice big bore. (not to sure if he had any other mods though.) and managed to keep up with a starlet (intake, exhaust, BOV ) from stand still (gained half a length in 1st and 2nd) up to 160 km (100mph). And im running my car standard.

B20A Speed does your motor lean back or forwards toward the radiator? Also what is the entire engine code on your motor?

In the USDM prelude's the motors will not fit in the accord with out a mounting kit. The USDM prelude's had the B20A3 (carb) and the B20A5 (EFI) which lean back.

Not to sure off the top of my head, I will have a look and post back the engine code 2morrow. I've got an EFI but can't remember which way it leans. Is the B20A from the prelude got a performance advantage over the one from the Accord or are they the same sort of power output.

I had a look and the engine code was B20A-155... and the motor is leaning towards the front. Does that make it the JDM B20A??

That sounds like the Accord B20A to me... No number after the B20A code (like B20A5 or B20A3 or whatever), and front-leaning. Are you sure it's out of a Lude and not an Accord?!

Thats what the maechanic told me. He hadn't seen a 2.0L manual accord only the 2.0L auto (which my car was B4). Neither have I, as far as anyone that ive talked to (and my mate with the same swap) thev'e only seen 2.0L auto's and 1.8 Manuals. As far as it's out of a prelude.

The swap can be done but it is a pain in the ass and i would say it is if Place Racing gave up on it. One way to tell is do you have a hydrolic clutch or cable? It sounds like an accord B20A to me as well because the guy would of had to cut the frame as well and found a way to connect the hydro tranny.

    My Bad.
I misunderstood the mechanic, he told me it he had put in a B20A, and transmission out of a prelude. He meant just the transmission was out of the lude, the B20A is out of an Accord. My mistake.

Like I told you guys... the prelude DID come with a B20A that FILL fit our Accords.

The 2g ludes HAVE THE SAME ENGINE AS WE DO.

and they did come with a B20A....
