Side Trim Help
Hey if anyone has ne ideas please help.........
on my rear passenger door the moulding came off, I bought the car like this and there was a dent right under it that I pulled out.
I got a new one from the junk yard, but the clips broke when I took it off.
so besides the one bolt how do you think I should attach it?
Easy
Go to a Honda dealership and get new clips.
They still carry just about every little last part for our cars.

Yes, that is the way to go. Under no circumstances should you try to glue/adhere it. Use Honda clips (prolly $2 apiece, worth it.)Originally Posted by k-roy

Call another dealer. I've bought the clips separately a couple times. If not, $60 may be worth it. There really isn't another way to do it.

you people DO know 3M makes a double sided adhesive thats specially designed for trim and mouldings. Its the same adhesive they use on body kits, bugshields, and vestvisors among other things. They have it at autozone and most other parts stores. Its like 6 bucks
And before you buy a single piece that wont match the others.....you can get the whole side for $66 bucks each side for the sedan $68 for coupes and $71 for the hatch

Good points. Is the 3M product durable? I don't know, but I think it might work okay at best. I went to get a set of the three moldings and the dealer said that part number is discontinued. I'd be interested to see if the 3M is the goods or not. Vinny normally knows his stuff though.
I've used it LOTS, its the shit for permanantly sticking things like trim on cars. I used it on a moonroof wind thingy on my old T bird. I know it held that thing on for years
Yeah but the clips make it easier to take off, and it's more OEM boy.
let me look, i know i can get you some clips from yards here, and shipping wont be terrable from across the state... i need some clips myself, so its no big deal to pocket a few more...
I've used the 3m tape molding stuff...works wonders!
i'm probably just going to try the 3m tape and silicone if that doesn't work cause i'm most likely shaving all the mouldings in my bodyshop class in the spring
Go into the dealer. Don't call. Half the time they won't know what you're talking about unless they see a picture of it. Well, they might but just to make sure. I bought a whole bunch of those clips a couple years ago. It sucks they cost so much but they're well worth the price.
No projects. Life consumes my time and money.
i cant find 3M tape here at all, stupid city
i want to use it for the window visors i have to put on
i used some 3M double sided tape. its been on there for a long time. hasnt come off ever. thats probley because i cleaned the surfaces very fricken well! i used some rubbing alcohol and a few paper towels. that always works for me with that double sided tape.
Keep it HONDA. Or at least Asian.™

i suppose that means that rubbing alcohol wont harm the car's paint or trim? thanks for the info
all honda parts are super expensive, I wanted to get the nuts for the speaker assemblies in the back, and they wanted 2.49 a piece, I almost blew up in the guys face. I went to an ace hardware and got them for 22 cents each.
Just use alcohol before applying the tape, won't hurt the paint.
