Any real benefit to using a Prelude dizzy?

I am buying a rebuilt dizzy, and want to know if there is any real benefit to using a Prelude dizzy. I have heard that it has increaded advance over a standard Lx-i dizzy...but want to know who is running one and if they feel it is worth it to use it.

i've got one on my carbed accord... outside of the difference it made fixing that part of my problem, i did notice that the engine has more pull above about 3000 to 3500 RPM... if you're replacing the distributor, go for it, as i know it did seem to add some pep to my car

Its a degree or 2 more mechanical advance and the timing curve seems slightly more aggressive (I don't have the proper tools to measure that and know for sure, I'm only speaking after taking the two apart and compairing them). It should give a little more power on the top end. I'm only speaking about the carb distributors here. I've been using one with about 5 more degrees of base timing and no vacuum advance. Then I also don't have a very stock motor and my timing needs are a bit diferent.

get a 84-87prelude dizzy it has to . . . . oh wait don't you have fuel injections.
    in that case get one off a prelude that has the same engine as your's . . . . . . .
but i don't know if it'll work sense their engine is the same as our's (cept the dohc engine)

if anyone can test the real difference in times between the two distributors, I'd really like to see the results. But I have a feeling that adjusting your valves and setting the timing right for your engine would be even more beneficial than a more agressive dizzy.

I've been talking carbed prelude distributors here, from 85-87 1.8L dual carbed preludes (BT/A18A1). You're not going to get that to work on an LX-i. I have no idea if there is any advantage to running a Si prelude dizzy in an LX-i. All 3g accord and 2g prelude dizzys have both mechanical and vacuum advance.

I noticed it gave me a smoother idle as well. I reccomend it to anyone that is replaceing a dizzy or a rear gearhead thats looking for something a little better. I also highly reccomend an aftermarket coil.

I have a TEC Distributor off an 84-87 (not sure witch exact year) Prelude duel carb.

Since there is a buzz lately about it I thought I would post a pic.

The main thing that stands out when you look at it is the vacuum advance diaphram (black plastic part).

At the top of the vacumn advance there is an O ring that seals between the the distributor and the diafram. THe O ring was shot so i used a little gasket maker to test my car seems to be fine now!!!
