    new brake rotors?

ok, so i think i've got some warped rotors, when i brake the whole front end ends up shaking pretty bad, i can even feel the feedback from the steering wheel. i was just thinking of replacing them with performance slotted rotors, but some guy at the honda shop told me that anything other than honda parts would squeak and squeal on me! this kinda sounds like a load of BS, designed to get me to buy only Honda parts from them. anyways, i'd be interested to know what you guys think, and if anyone has put performance rotors on theirs with the factory calipers???

you dont need slotted, just get the Brembos from Nopi and they work fine. Just upgrade ur pads when u get the new rotors. its about 25 bux. and the semi-metalic performance pads are bout 27 bux.

you might as well get two rotors even tho one is bad. Cause the pad is for the whole front, so u get 4 pads, Two on each side as u know. So its gonna be about 80 bux in total, But its well worth it.

It is always a good idea to do both sides when you work on your brakes.

am i wrong in thinking that these only fit 88/89? for some reason i think 86/87 rotors were slightly smaller... maybe i'm wrong.

correct, to a point... the 88/89 LXi trim and the 89 SEi trim had bigger front rotors... the calper was the same size, but the bracket was welded to the knuckle a bit further out to allow room for the rotor, similar to the "big brake" kits that use the stock calipers...

86-89 carbs and 86-87 LXI had the same size rotors (kinda small)
The 88-89 Lxi and Se-i, like derek mentioned, used bigger rotors.

    Before you buy.

Try re-greasing the caliper slide pins before you buy new rotors. I have the same front end shakes when braking. and I just replaced all pads, shoes, rotors, drums, flushed lines, wheel cylinders and hardware in December before moving to CT so I believe the shakes are coming from a different source I'm thinking that I need to start replacing bushings.
You have to remember the age of our rides I can see alot of dried rubber associated with the suspension. So I believe that the shake are a combination of problems.
    Hope this helps.

If your wheels are out of balance it can cause the front end to shake too when braking.

it could also be the lower ball joints.

    Already did the ball joints.

Did all that with the clutch, brakes, seals, P/S pump, Distributor, tire balanced and rotated.
I believe its either the calipers need rebuilding or it has to be dry rot of the rubber bushing.
I re-greased the calipers pins but I'm still getting some shake on braking.
