    intake manifold porting??????

I was thinking about ported intake manifold and how the hell they do it. You can't grind it out with a die grinder or dremel like you can a head, casue of the long and curved runners. I guy was saying that they use some type of gel/erossion stuff, and they just run it throught the intake and it slowly rubs off the metal?????????

gell... I dunno... maybe to get a smooth shape... the gel would get hung up on areas of the manifold that might disrupt the flow and so that area is most likely to get eaten away by the gel.

I think with the proper dremel tool and a bit of research you can manage some pocket porting... get a dummy head though.

Well first off I will let you know how I did mine. I used bits similar like these... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

But the ones I used had a really long shank so the actual length of the bit was like 6-8 inches. But make sure you use an aluminum bit b/c if you get a regular steel bit then the aluminum will get stuck in the bit.

edit: Oh and use a multi speed drill it's easier to control the porting for begininers.

Well get cracking. SOME of us are a little too busy right now to do group buys OH starting price to get this done is about 375-450 bucks from what I hear. And you'll be intake-less for a few weeks while they bore yours

Yea I was plaining on getting an AEBS B16 manifold, but I ws just curious how the hell they port intake manifold. They have to have some king of flexible hone that can get up the runners and into the plentum.

Oh yeah, I'm sure I'll be able to put together a groupbuy with that kind of pricing. Nevermind.

u can always try removing the iabs and making the 88 up manifold into a single runner manifold. Having a two piece manifold makes it really easy to get a die grinder in it to port it out. It would probably out flow a B16 manifold but maybe over kill for internally stock A20s. With a B16 manifold u can use the newer larger throttlebodies aswell, but we have adapted the top part of an H22 iab manifold onto the A20 manifold but 1 bolt did not matchup and there may have been a slight vacuum leak. This is what the IAB manifold look like with the single runners. The top one is the manifold on our H22 accord and the bottom one is a GSR thats going on my 1.9l LSVTEC

How do you think that intake would work on the B20A? Does openning it up like that kill much low end?

I would like to put a better intake manifold on my B20A, but the EGR issue is holding me back.

I am fairly sure that company uses an abrasive puddy to do it's magic.

I too was planning on getting my manifold ported out, but I wasnt sure where to take it...But I dont know if its even worth it if the price is too high since I dont plan on doing any mods other than exhaust and the intake mod for my A20A1.

    manifold

just get a ITB setup and be done with it personally if i wanted a good road engine with quiet engine edelbrock would be the one i'd get with a big TB on it moddfied inlet manifolds are really only going to be good for those of us who have some serious mods porting out the inlet manifold isn't that hard just need the right tools but even if you can only get halfway up the manifold you'll still get a reasonable gain. Personaly i'd have left the dual stage manifold alone good upgrade for economy and low end power but i suppose if you get bored with power output you could butcher it to make a few extra bhp as long as you can get a big enough TB onto it.

I though about removing the 2nd butter fly valves all together, but not removing that much material. Just port out as much I could with the dremel and call it good.
