SEi was the first american built accord
LXi 4doors had sunroofs standard and was from the plant. The other models, sunroofs were installed after the car was built.

A 3G was used in the movie Rumble In The Bronx starring Jackie Chan. Chan was being chased by thugs on foot in traffic when he came face to face with a red 3G. He ran up the hood and dove into the open sunroof. The thugs drove their dirt bikes up the hood,windshield,onto the roof over the sunroof and back down the rear deck. From the brief shot of it -the 3G looked OK...
Compare to 2G, the height of the bonnet is 10 cm (4 inch) lower to maximise the view from the driving seat. This is one reason 3G has double wishbone suspension instead of mcphason strut which need certain height in design.
The California Honda design team wanted 4 door sedan, 2 door coupe and 3 door hatch because they didn't want to change the image of 2G Accord which was big success for Honda at that time. (In fact honda at that time was just before bankrupt.) Japan Honda design team wanted 4 door sedan and 3 door Aerodeck (looks like Civic 3 door hatch) cos in Japan 2G accord was a total disaster and wanted to give totally new image to the buyers. Those two teams did not agree to each other over the 3 door design and had nasty bloody argument and dispute over and over. Finally the president of Honda Mr. Kume at that time became bored of it and said 'Pack up, go home and do what ever you want then'. So we have 3 door hatch in two different style. I have read this in my bible. Thanks Mr Kume - I love my Aerodeck!

Yeah, I love DW. I like to brag about it to my MacPerson equipped friends. One day my 3G will ride around with tubular arms everywhere in the suspension. I just hate the pressed-steelplates that are welded to each other.

well compared to the 86-87 accord and 88-89 not only the 88-89 have upgraded the body but's it's about 2 inches wider than the 86-87.
i kinda new that cause the 88-89 felt bigger . . .

Wow that a news. I thought 86-87 and 88-89 body panels are swappable. Do you know which part of the body is wider than 86-87?
the whole car basically, they're still swapable but the bumper will look wider than the car maybe.
i only know that the one's here in the u.s. are like that.

Sorry guys, its about Aerodeck again... From Japanese point of view....
When they were released in Japan, the 3G Accord 4D sedan was big success but Aerodeck was a commercial failure. Its design, concept was great but was a bit too progressive for Japanese consumers - they are relatively conservative so they don't prefer to drive a car which draw attention in town. So Aerodeck became like ghost - you hardly see them.
But after 10 years, the Aerodeck become very popular among young people - 'Otaku' or 'Mania' thing you know - and in late 90's some people have bought dead stock brand new Aerodeck which cost more than the original retail price. Mad.
The Accord Coupe is US only model at the start of its sales and many Japanese people wanted them. So Honda started to 'import' US coupe to Japan after a while. I was intrigued by this idea 'imported' Honda from US but majority of the Japanese Honda fans went crazy about it. For Japanese it was (and 'is' may be) important that it was from abroad so they have left hand steering opposed to right hand steering which is standard in Japan.
There is unwritten agreement in Japan. When you meet somebody who has 3G Accord Coupe, first of all you must say 'Oh my goodness whaat a rare car you own sir!'
