    Replacing stock springs?

Ok, unlike most people, I'm actually looking to put the stock springs BACK ON the car and get rid of the LowBoyz coilovers (taking offers...)

I'm told that compressing the stock springs even with a rented spring compressor might be pretty tough. I want to give it a shot myself before paying to have it done. Has anyone done this?

I'm also looking to replace the front shocks. I want the best I can get for the least amount of money... I want to build up the engine, so I don't want to put too much money into the rest of the car just yet!

Once the coils are off, I'll be taking offers on em. Keep an eye on the Marketplace!

For stock springs Tokico has a shock that is slightly stiffer than the Honda orignials. The ride won't be stiff, but it will be a little less 'floaty' especially if your original dampers are worn out. They're around $65 each, which is a little more than the cheap aftermarket replacements, but I'd say it's money well spent. Just don't forget that the Tokicos are not stiff enough for lowering springs if you decide to change again later.

Reinstalling the rear springs should be easy since their large coil diameter makes it easy to use standard spring compressors. The smaller front springs are more difficult. I ended up puttig a few small dents in the damper dust cover with my spring compressor when I was removing the stock springs. Whether or not you can do the front yourself will depend on exactly how your spring compressor works. At worst you can pay a shop to swap just your front springs are install your new shocks for less than having them do the whole job for you.

Cool, thanks Mike! At least I won't be spending money on the whole thing if it comes down to it!

When I did the suspension on my other car, I used an extention cord to tie the springs down, and then compressed the new springs myself as I put the assembly back together. They were 1.8" H&R springs though. I assume stock springs wouldn't work that way, even with a 200lb guy leaning on em!

It seems like I might be buying shocks (bilstiens) and springs (eibach, included in the deal) from rallyeNate, so this may not be an issue!
