valve clearance specs?

k, i'm getting the stage one tri-flow Colt cam, and i was wondering if the valve clearances are the same as stock or if they're different. if they're different, i need to know them. i'm installing the new cam thursday, and i'm trying to get everything i need tomorrow (or today.., it's after midnight...). so, anyways, anybody know this?

You will get a cam card with the clearances... but you can start out with a larger stock gap and then slowly tighten the gap after some use. The gaps should be listed on the sticker under the hood.

i'm getting the cam used from another member..., and he said he couldn't remember if he got a cam card or not with it.., so i was just wondering if anybody else that has got this grind has it handy or something.
cam specs:
intake 260, 384 lift
intake 270, 384 lift
exhaust 274, 402 lift

i bought a mild performance (triflow) camshaft from colt, you need to readjust the valves to stock clearances

.05 - .07 for intake
.10 - .12 for exhaust

He meant 0.005-0.007 intake and 0.010 - 0.012 exhaust

Um... I'm about to put in a new cam... Geof from Colt Cams wrote: .006 intake, .007 exhaust (cold). Is the exhaust valve spec too low... I mean could he have made a mistake wirting .007?

not really, it's just safer to have a larger gap cause that makes sure the exhaust valve has a chance to transfer heat properly to the head.

You'll get more power from the cam with the smaller gap though.

anyway, always use stock spec. the cam does not change that. valve clearances are for expansion of the valves as the motor heats up. if its to loose they will make extra noise and lower performance. if they are too tight it can burn a valve.

Soo..... I should use stock gap? Hmm... I'll set it at .006 in and .010 ex and see how it sounds...
