sorry, but unless you get emission free ECU you can't ditch that box.
your ECU will through all kinds of codes and make your engine run like a crap.

me and justin86 have both basically eliminated the box, although he completely removed it and i havent gotten that far yet. As long as your MAP sensor is hooked up the engine will run OK. I'm throwing an EGR code right now and it runs a little rough, but when the throttle is opened up it runs better.

For ease of use, i wouldnt suggest doing that because it can become a pain in the ass to drive. i want to figure out how to get another programmable ECU so i can eliminate the useless crap i dont want/need.

You need a european market ECU. That means no O2 sensor, no EGR and a lot of the shit in the vacuum box wont be used.

hmmm... i would assume the same, but that's worth looking into... i need to do some research into the emissionsless ECUs i posted in the marketplace about to see if it will be as simple as i think it could be...it would be great if i had an EFI car to work with, though... that's in the planning stages, as i still haven't gotten my tranny replaced...

if they euros dont have the emissions crap, couldnt we just get the binary out of the euro ECU and burn it onto a new chip for use in the US?

the EFI euro has the same crap... it's the carb version that's different.

it's not crap. all the vacuums have a purpose if you look at this closely... not like the carbed mystery box.

you could remove it completely but you'll need to hook-up the switches/sensors somewhere else.

A newer TB has the map sensor on top of it. Run an electric advance distributor and hoo-up the dual runner manifold with a H22A vacuum reserve... the only vacuum line that will remain is the EGR... you couls even use a newer valve that has the lift sensor on top of it...

    No more vacuum box.
