is my car slower than it should be

ok i have a 1989 honda accord lx-i 2dr coupe auto and it only has 85,000 miles on it. its pretty much stock. ok i did like 4 0-60's the other day i averaged 14-15 sec. 0-60. used my cd player to count.
just wanted to know if my car should be quicker.
another thing is i can stick the peddle to the floor on dry pavement and it wont burnout or squeel.

I don't know if accordaddict made a typo or a funny.... Oh well our cars are like 17 sec 1/4 mile cars. Autos are slow as heck.

But since your FI you should be a little quicker. And you should know that just counting isn't very accurate you could be off by 1 to 3 seconds and not know it.

well the way i timed it i used my cd player.
i would repeat a song and when the display shows 00:01 i would floor it from a stop, and when im at 55 mph or so look down and it would sey 00:16 so subtracked a second and my 0-60 is about 15 seconds.

use a stop watch to be more accurate, and you have an auto, so it's not like you have to shift.

if you manually shift the auto its faster than just staying in D4.

so its normal for my auto to be this slow
another thing is with my AC on its really really slow, i have to uselly turn it off to get into traffic. at a street light eather floor it with the AC on or turn it off to accelerate
so should my AC slow my car down a whole lot is is somthing wrong

i always wanted to put a manual tranny in it but i would probley be better off selling it and buy a differant car thats a manual

    well tuned up stock i know lx-i 4dr's are 10 0-60 and carbed is 12 0-60 auto's.
i say your car may need a tune-up, i mean rellay claen it out.
    or just modified it.
i know that once i clean it out, moddfied it, my carb was faster than it was when i first got it.
and the same thing is in plan for my new baby
oh yea that's normal for the car to be slower with the compressor on.

you just really need to treat you car

Ok im gonna be the first to step up with a real solution.

Ok its running slow period. Auto or Not. Tuneup Time!

    1. PCV Valve
    2. Change your Oil, use FULL synthetic and a K&N filter
    3. Get some NGK spark Plug wires
    4. NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
    5. Accel or MSD ignition coil
    6. Flush, fill and bleed your cooling system
    7. Get a 92-95 Civic Short Ram Intake with a K&N cone air filter
    8. Replace every last Vacuum line there
    9. Change your tranny fluid
    10. New Fuel Filter
    10. Advance your timing by a few degrees
    11. Check the air pressure in your tires.

Yea I know it sounds like a lot but your car will love you for it. If you have any questions use the search buton above, everything I listed has allready been discused several times over.

Yeah tear the sub, amps, and whatever else crap you got back there out and get a intake and a tune up and it maybe a little faster.

let me give you an idea. i had my friend ride along with me and time my 0-60 with a stop watch. it was right about 9.7 seconds. that was nearly 2 years ago before i'd taken all the plastic outta the trunk and put the prelude seats in. also, i was about 30 lbs heavier. now i'd like to see what i can run.
