    Post Engine Fan

I have a weird problem I think. My engine fan always comes on whenever I turn off my car. I would drive around and turn the car off, then 2 minutes later the engine fan would come on for like 15-20 mins. Anybody know what this is and how to fix it? Thanks.

What year and trim is the car? I'm pretty sure that on 88 and up LXi's this is normal.

i have an 88 lx and my fan only comes on when the car is on. Never heard of the fan coming on after the car is off. Might be for the FI motors.

Yeah, on 88/89 lxi and sei engines, if the coolant temp is above 226°F after the engine is turned off the condeser fan runs for 15 min or until the temp falls below 214°F. So, your wierd problem is no problem at all, the car is designed to do that. Welcome to the board.

on 88-89 lx-i and se-i the cooling fan's come on after the engine reaches a certain temp.
now this should've been something that gm should've done back then too.
the main reason is to cool the coolant in return cool off the sensor's and injector's, and the engine so on. . . . .
some reason the carb's don't have it, one being the carb is too damn spoiled, so it'll only perform at a certain temp also . . . . .
    damn why did honda have carb's in 86-89 . . . . .
