    Starting to piss me off...

Damn, my car is idled really high, (1500 in park, 1100 in drive) and when it goes a little over 1500 it drops to zero then goes back up then it hits over 1500 and drops again, and again, and again until i cut the damn thing off for a minute and restart it. I see the yellow marked screw on the throttle thing but i cant get to it!!! arent you supposed to turn it to the left or right to idle it down? hmm anybody know how to idle it down the easiest way?

I belive turning it to the right lowers the idle and turning it to the left raises it. You can't get to it¿ You should be able to take a long flat head screwdriver and that should make it possible to get to it.

like, the end of the screw is facing downward and there is like no space anywhere, i think i have an idea, might ruin a butterknife though. i will bend the tip of a butterknife and use it that way if it will work.

I just had the same problem. And it was my idle screw. The screw does not face down.It faces toward to passenger side of the car. Some times it is a little tricky to turn because of a red vaccum line.

    Exclamation IAC Valve

Got an 89 exi(cdn model) coupe w/4spd auto. When I got it two yrs ago it would do same thing. Idle wouldn't hold and would drop to 550rpm or so & then jump to 1500-2000. A complete tune up later still did same thing hot. Found the fix. Run to oper temp (cooling fan on), turn off, disconnect IAC valve cnctr, restart & adjust idle screw on tbi to idle rpm (750-800) Turn off, reconnect IAC & with full load (lights a/c wipers etc) fine tune idle screw to 750-800 rpm. Worked for me!

Could also be your fast idle valve (on the back side of the intake manifold). A bad or dirty one makes the idle lope alot and it happens to almost every 3rd gen I've worked on. Check Paul's online manual for how to clean it.

I'm having a similar problem. Where exactly is this yellow screw located? Can someone send a picture or a link?
