Civic springs DO work

This weekend i installed a set of coilovers i bought from a friend. They're for a 98 Civic EX. I've heard rumors that they work so i thought i'd try it since i got em for super cheap. They worked just fine! I'll update as i put more miles on em, but i've been driving around all weekend and they've been working great. The ride is a little bouncy, but not too bad and i like it. Besides, im not driving a 4x4 anymore which is a good thing.

I have no idea what brand coilovers these are. All i know is that they are blue.

sweet. I wonder if stock civic springs are any lower than ours? Way tight b/c now we know there are tons of options for civics out there.

did you have to adjust the camber/struts?

when dropping a car EVER you need to adjust the camber! Coil-overs are very stiff and req some good struts!

civic coilovers are meant to handle the weight of a civic which is close to an accord! No problems are possible.... springs are springs coilovers are coilovers!

its not like using 4cyl mustang springs on a 5.0 car

the civic weight is pretty close and usually the spring rate is way to high for it anyway so the added weight of the accord helps control the coilovers a little. The ride is bouncy with the coilovers i'm using, but its not super harsh.

And yeah, you deffinately need to get a camber kit. My wheels right now sit like / \ this instead of | |. the biggest issue you need to take care of is toe alignment. bad camber wont eat your tires nearly as much as bad toe will.

Hmmm.... now if those work... I'm curious if something like a tein full coilover kit from a civic might fit? ... I know there may be some modification needed, but if so, I would so buy some of those.

damn, thats good info to know i might have to get a pair of coilovers for a civic. Is it the 96-00 that work only or are their other civic generations that will work fine too? So you had no problem putting them in at all, no modifying or anything? And how low do you have yours set at? THANKS!

no modification was done to install the CO's except i didnt use the top plate for them. The 96-00 coilovers will fit. As for other generations, there's only one way to tell.

on some ebay auctions they list coilovers for 88-00 civics so one assumes their the same!

I wonder what the spring rates on the coilovers you used were. I know alot of Integra DC4 Users use civic springs/coilovers for a softer ride since DC4 are a bit heavier than Civics. DC4 integras (3rd gen integ) LS are about the same weight as the sedan LXi give or take a 100lbs.

well the spring rate is about perfect IMO because the ride is just bouncy/stiff enough to let you know they're doing their job, but not so much that they jolt the teeth out of your head.

Coilovers come with the struts(or shocks, i always get them comfused) in them right? SO we wont have to get revalved bilstiens, or will we?

i just used the sleeve coil-over shock setup. Just springs, no struts. The ideal setup is new struts that are made to handle the shorter springs.

well if you can find some 88-91 prelude front struts they will work fine,I would think you would have a easier time finding konis for the lude,now the rear is the only problem,I havent found a match for that yet
