that sounds about right for menieke, but for a cat back i could probly drive around and get it for about 80. but on small jobs like that, $100 dollars is like a standard price everyone throws at you. i know this cuz when i had my truck i drove all over trying to save $20, lol. but all in all a single pipe cat back on a small car usually runs around 100

well, its always good to replace old ass exhaust so you dont knock it off with "stumps" in the road, , but worth it as in the pros of it? a very small amount of HP increase and a deeper sound. every mod isnt shit really unless you have the rest. in this case to fully benefit off it you would need to do a complete intake and exhaust job. i say go for it, then get a DC header and you have a complete exhaust side.

What does "gut" it mean? oh and when i bought the car it had new aluminum exhaust pipes already. they're shiney. but i still want more performance. so is it worth it or just wait till after the paint job?

knock all of the rock out of it and make it hollow. and if its already new then its up to you if you want to change it. thats a good price though.

DO NOT hollow your cat, it will mess up the flow even more. I'd say get the exhaust done first, but thats just me. I would rather have a car that hauls ass first then make it look nice.

you dont understand how fucked up my paint job is. my hood is spraypainted black and has spots all over it, the paint is chipping off the car in small areas, and the front bumper on the bottom is scratched to hell and back because of a peice of big ass wood with nails sticking out that i ran over and draged the wood alont with the car moving. so its pretty fucked up i need a new look.

well then sand it all down and primer all the bad spots, and put off the finish paint job for awhile. My hood has been black primer for allmost a year now

Don't you have emissions? Don't gut the cat...

    Stock is 1.75"
Anyways there is nothing wrong with aluminized steel... especially if you are using it for cat back... For header and muffler you want stainless.

It wont be much untill you get a header and test pipe... all you'll get really is a louder sound because you removed the resonator and the stock muffler.

why do you say hollowing the cat isnt good? im not arguing, just dont understand how removing a huge aerated rock out of a chamber and making it hollow is bad. i mean im sure the flow is not as great as a striate pipe, but isnt it better than trying to go through a rock with holes in it?

getting the piping done without a header wouldn't change too much, performance wise. your major hang up is still the exhaust manifold, and even though you're able to move more exhaust gasses after that point, they're still going to get caught up.

it'll change the note of the exhaust (the sound), especially without a resonater. so you could easily do that, and then install a header later for the piping to actually take advantage of.

on a side note, i ended up chopping up my exhaust to install a resonator.. the reverberation was just miserable and annoying without it. to each his own, however; that was just personal preference

ive already gotten my resonator removed on stock piping and i didnt hear one difference at all. NOTHING , money downthe drain. so if i get these pipes i guess i wont hear ANY difference at all right? and i also have a 3A Racing muffler

Gutting the cat made more difference on my car than anything I've done! Given, it's n ot as good as a piece of straight pipe....but way better than the cat.
