New intake

here are the pics of my new 92-95 civic intake, bought it on ebay:

I had to cut it shorter than some people have had to, because if you look right in front of the intake piping, there is a metal bar that's bending down that is attached to the throttle cable I think. Anyways, it's kinda in the way and I had to make it really short or it wouldn't fit under the hood. Sounds really really nice, don't think there's any power increase though.

the reason you don't see power gains is because you are sucking all that hot air under the hood.

you should had done up a custom cold air intake not a short ram, doesn't even make a differents... what the point, do it right! don't be cheap to your self!

in some states it dont matter if u got CAI or a SRI. Like in Arizona, in the summers, its like 115 degrees and i can feel a loss of power from my CAI. I went down to Extreme Motorsports and the specialist there with this Bad ass Sr20 240 turbo said u aint gunna get a difference in this kind of weather during the summer. so i guess it depends wure u be

Nah, some people like the mod just for the sound. and I think you at least get a bit better gas mileage.

i had mine's behind the tranny, when the engine was cold and the chassis was cold, i thought it was fine, once it reached the certain temp i can feel the power lagging off, and i checked that thing was sucking up HOT air, i moved it toward's the front and added, more so it can get cold or cool air.
their was no lag.

Let's put it this way, I don't notice any power decrease, so I'm fine with it. The main reason I got it was for sound, because I've read all over here that just putting intakes on a stock motor is pretty much not going to do much if anything power wise for the car.

Yeah i have to say I did the same thing too. I had it right behind the battery and even though I got a little better gas mileage, it was still inside the engine bay sucking up those hot gasses. If you take the battery out and look around near it there is a place where the old stock intake went down behind the bumper/passenger fender. take off the fender or bumper and take out the old "box" thats there and run the intake right in there. I couldnt believe the difference it made.

the easiest way to get to the box in the fender is to remove the bumper. it is very easy.

i have custom CAI and the sound of it is very deep roar when i floor it. i didn't make it for a sound, i made it for power.

That box has NO HOLE in it.. It is just a resonator box..I was suprised to see no opening for ANY air. This reminds me, I gotta check up on my filter and see if it is dirty. ^^

I made mine for power too. The CAI definitely isnt as loud as the SR intake but to me, the CAI definitely feels better when its colder out at night. I get a better response from the pedal after my installation.

Well, I'm now interested in removing that box because my filter is pretty far down (in battery place) and I have a heat shield installed. More airflow would really help my setup...

over here in san francisco... driving around 2-3am in the morning, it will pull hard with the cai.... fog/cold air... yay!

Driving here in the Chico area, if you get caught with any kind of an aftermarket intake that's not CARB'd it's a $350 fine. That's why I took my CAI out of the G2 and forced my brother to take the SRI out of the 3G.

Just get a carb legal sticker from someone. Friend took the AEM sticker from another friend who totalled his car and then stick it on his akimoto intake and put AEM sticker on the pipe. LOL.

Looks good. I got the same kit, just has a different filter.

I definitely feel a power increase though so I don't know what everyone is talking about. Nothing major, but I feel the difference. To do a mod just for sound to me would be pointless unless it's a stereo

My only problem is I can't settle. Now that I put the Short Ram in about a week ago and saw how easy it was I want to make a CAI. Just don't feel like ordering the pipe online on phone like the instructions say on this site. If I could find one in a store i'll go for it

installing a SRI or CAI just for sound is 100%

One thing i've noticed, and im sure a lot of other people will tell you, our motors like to breath. Help them do that in any way and you'll notice a gain in power. How much that gain is depends on what you do.
