I am part of the third gear chirp club

Shifting at 6500 from first to second and second to third the tires chirp pretty well. The tires are BF Goodrich Comp T/As, P195/60R15. I have a carbed Accord with a few mods. Who else can do this? It came as a surprise to me. My clutch is going out, too. :P

Speaking of that, I have a friend with a not-quite-stock Eldorado ETC and the traction control kicks on after every shift.

..but for an old Honda, this is pretty nice!

I dunno. I find this hard to believe. I couldn't even chirp 2nd gear with my carbed A20.

Sidestep it going into 2nd. I've only done this ONCE, and it definitely worked.

i call it BS. i bet your tires are bold.
when i had my carbed accord. with vacuum lines removed, full exhaust, and ignition upgraded, i could even chirp in 2nd gear. and i had brindstones potenza tires.

put some donuts up front and i bet you can chirp them in 2-3 shift then.

    :edit:

I have a DOHC Focus 5 speed with CAI, Cat-back 2.25" + Flowmaster, Helix Throttle Body Spacer, Iridium Plugs, 205/50/15 Falken Azenis and removed resonator... I can't chirp 2-3, I can only sometimes chirp 1-2.......

thanks for the fake post to up your post count though.

If the car is quite a bit out of alignment then one of the front tire's contact patch may be small enough to cause a chirp under hard acceleration into third gear. This, of course, is not a good thing.

I think it is possible with really bald tires. I chirped 2nd with bald tires.(in a manual). Diffenitley not in an auto.

89 lxi 2door 5spd(stock) on 195/60/14 or on 205/45/zr17 chirps just fine into second and ONCE into third while turning so its possible

Well there's only one way to find out. Adam you have to show me this. My yokohamas are too sticky to be chirping in 3rd gear. I can chirp into 3rd with my prelude and I have sticky tires on that too

hmm... u guys must be shitty drivers... i could chirp second and third in the accord with EASE...

i could get rubber and smoke in first and second... i only had weber, header, full exhaust, prelude distributor and new clutch...

and a prelude tranny... i guess that makes a big difference cuz its geared alot lower than the DX tranny

I can chirp into second with my 17's on. With cat back, short ram intake, and a few little things. I did it a few times at the track but can't do it very often on the street.

    EDIT : 5 Speed

do all of you have autos or 5 speeds? cuz it can easily chirp if you are popping the clutch with a 5 speed.
