radiator fan acting wierd

So I have a question beacause Im thinking something is up. Ive been driving the wifeys car lately and noticed that if the cooloing fan is on and you turn the car off it turns off. Im thinking its supposed to stay on further cooling after the car has stopped. AM I right or what wrong. Thnaks mike

not always. sometimes they stay on but sometimes they won't stay on.
